Water calms down the soul and realigns your body's rhythms.

Water occupies 70 percent of the Earth and our bodies.

We fall down like waterfalls, but keep on moving forward; non-stop.

Welcome to Arua's Best Kept Tourism Secret!

What's so special about watching riverwater fall from a high vertical point? The uninterrupted roaring sound as well as continuity of flow remind you that life goes on, no matter what brings you down. It can also be pure healing, better than devilish antidepressant pills or drugs because waterfalls reduce air pollutants by releasing negative ions (or Dr. Philipp Eduard Anton Lenard ions with positive effects) when water collides with itself and other surfaces like rocks creating invisible Air Vitamins which reduce stress inside the body. That is the Waterfall Effect; you feel it, even if you cannot see the ions in the splashes. Lenard ions enhance the brain-levels of serotonin (Neurotransmitter responsible for mood regulation, reduced stress, improved focus and a sense of wellness).

When tired, just rest to renew your strength and energy!

When two or three gather in the name of JESUS, He is there. This is not Emmaus, but He is there somewhere.

Explore UG

Arua is a peaceful and prudent Metro Hub of Opportunities that links East Africa to the rest of the Black Continent. Surrounded by three different countries, it is the Heart of West Nile (Northwestern Uganda) where the 3rd President of Uganda originates. When you travel to Arua, you might want to explore the locality a bit. Points of Interest in Arua include Arua Hill, Barifa Forest, Golf Course, Arua Airport, hotels and so much more in all 12 directions including Salia Musala in Koboko, Lodonga Basilica in Yumbe, Alikua Pyramid in Maracha, Mount Wati in Terego, Vurra Customs, Ajai Game Reserve in Madi Okollo, Mount Oce in Moyo, etc.

Hidden in the suburb of Oluko, East of Arua City is a very eco-friendly and adventurous get-away that offers a lot effortlessly (because it was made by GOD). I'm not trying to hype up the place, but I have felt its benefits which I used to doubt because the place seemed small and nobody mentioned its attributes: Relaxing; renewing; uplifting with a non-stop thunderous vibe; serene and quite refreshing because of the abundant vegetation! There are so many shades of green from different types of trees and grass; the hilly terrain provides a natural arena for climbing and aerobic exercises; the amazing view of the mini-rift valley takes you away like you are not even in the flat Lugbaraland you are used to; the constant roaring of River Asa as it flows down rocks soothes the mind and soul; some people go there for meetings, dates, outings, swimming in a rocky pool, study tours, picnics or birthday parties with edibles and drinks plus music blasting on speakers. The destination am talking about is Abairo Falls at the end of Waterfalls Road. From the Alua Primary School football field (more than a kilometre beyond Okuambo Market in Mvara) on Oluko Road which starts from the East End of Weatherhead Park Lane (Ring road around Golf Course), you cut right and move (Don't go left near Malingumu Events Amsterdam, but follow the bigger road) for 2 kilometres until you cross a small bridge. However, as the road starts to curve right towards Ambeko and Muni, go straight ahead on your left: That road will lead you to several discoveries. John Acile (Caretaker of Abairo Falls) started developing the place as a tourist attraction in 2006; he resides near the entrance with his hospitable family. Abairo Falls is directly East below Arise Center. When you are down there, you can actually see the golden sun set majestically over the cottage building on top of the hill; it's so transcendental that many people prefer going there in the afternoons and also during the weekend (Statistically, sometimes over 50 people fill the venue at the same time). When you ask a bodaman to take you to Abairo Falls, it might take about 15 minutes or more to reach there from Arua Hill Roundabout...

Pari Asianzuru [A Peaceful Place]

Are you stressed out by work or life in general? Try visiting a very peaceful place hidden in Oluko Subcounty to cool off and relax! You have to see it to believe it, even though at a small price. When people mention Oluko Falls [Yikuru in Lugbara], they might subconsciously be talking about a series of waterfalls in Oluko because there is Oloporoporo (Upper Falls) plus other amazing rapids downstream, but the final attraction in Oyufi Village, Wandi Parish (Ayivu Division of Arua City) at the end of Waterfalls Road is Abairo which means "There is plenty (of water)" when translated from Lugbara. The River Asa waterflow is simply non-stop all year round as it enters River Acha in the North to South valley ahead. GOD created a fantastic, unimaginable marvel in this locality! I travelled to Arua every year since Y2K to December 2013 when I moved permanently, but did not believe (without a single doubt) that such a place existed in Arua City until Twenty25; it's like what I had been wishing to see near Arua City for a quarter century after enjoying Lake Victoria in Bantuland became reality: Small, but big enough in terms of aura!

Uganda is gifted by GOD; in the southern background of Abairo is a mini-rift valley that makes you wonder whether you are in Western UG (Bundibugyo, Kasese [Rwenzori], Fort Portal, Hoima, Bufumbira, etc) or the European Alps (during Summertime). The cascade itself resembles the powerful Murchison (Kabalega) Falls gorge though narrower. Nevertheless, there is a 7 metre-long rock at the top of the falls dividing the water into two just before it joins again and falls. During the wet season (March to November), the water is sandy-brown and looks quite dirty because of eroded riverside soil sediments plus floods the pool area making swimming riskily difficult on some days, but the Dry Winter (December to February) changes all that; you might even see the base of the pool clearly before Spring. The cascade even looks white like an illusion. On a rock is written: Welcome visitors to the beauty of GOD's creation!

Arua City Council wants to turn Abairo Falls into an international tourist centre...

Asindriza azini Leta [Peace and Love]!
